FAQ from Dean’s Auto Body
- What can I do if my insurance company directs me to a shop that I don’t want to use to repair my vehicle?
- Legally, you have the right to choose which repair shop you want to fix your vehicle. Your insurance company is required to work with the shop you choose and to negotiate in good faith.
- Should I turn the loss into my insurance company or pay for it out of pocket?
- That is really a question only you can answer based on a number of personal and financial factors. The price to repair a car can go up once it is torn down and additional damage is found; in this respect an insurance company is trained to deal with additional damage and part price increases much better than most consumers. However, if you decide to personally pay for the damages, a reputable repair facility will keep in touch with you on additional costs.
- What are OEM, Aftermarket, and Recycled Parts?
- OEM – Original Equipment Manufactured; by your vehicle’s factory supplier.
- Aftermarket – Copied from original factory part and manufactured by a 3rd party supplier.
- Recycled Part – An original factory part taken off a vehicle that has been retired from service.
- What is a Supplement?
- A supplement is an estimate written for hidden or additional damage not discovered during the initial estimate. Supplements on hidden damage are a normal occurrence because today’s vehicles are designed to crush from the “outside – in” in order to protect the occupants. If a shop finds additional damage they notify the insurance company and/or customer for approval and continue with repairs.
- What is Waterborne Paint?
- Waterborne paint is a high solids product where water is the carrier of the color instead of solvents. It reduces hazardous waste and volatile emissions by up to 80%. Waterborne paint improves the air quality for the work environment and the community. Dean’s Auto Body believes in preserving our future and that is why we choose environmentally friendly products.
- Do I need an estimate from Dean’s Auto Body if I already have an insurance estimate?
- Dean’s Auto Body may not need to write another estimate for you, but we will want to review your insurance estimate alongside the vehicle prior to scheduling it for repairs. This allows us to gather information we may need to preorder parts necessary for the repair.
- Why can estimates be different from each other?
- Differences in repair estimates are common. A lower estimate may not include all necessary work. If you are not sure why one estimate is different from another you have received, please ask us.
- Does Dean’s Auto Body offer a written warranty?
- Yes, we do! We guarantee the work performed by our technicians at Dean’s Auto Body so long as the vehicle remains under the present ownership.
- Why choose Dean’s Auto Body?
- Your car is the second largest investment you are likely to make. Preserve its value and your safety by having it repaired professionally!
